Not really being a person who’s big on prayer but liking the sentiment behind The Serenity Prayer, I’ve slightly re-worked the words and I’m pleased with the results.
“There are things within my control. There are things beyond my control. Recognizing the difference between these two results in a more peaceful mind and less stressful experience.”
Hopefully this will help me get though the DMV in one, sane piece today :)
Happy Friday!!
Stop using my body as a political tactic. You. Won’t. Win. And you will look like a f*ckhead for doing so. #kthxbai
“Patience is a way to de-escalate aggression and its accompanying pain. This is to say that when we’re feeling aggressive—and I think this would go for any strong emotion—there’s a seductive quality that pulls us in the direction of wanting to get some resolution. We feel restless, agitated, ill at ease. It hurts so much to feel the aggression that we want it to be resolved. Right then we could change the way we look at this discomfort and practice patience.”
— Pema Chödrön
Such wise words from a very wise woman. I know I am trying to work through acting out of hurt, aggression or general frustration. It’s hard but being mindful and practicing it regularly will lead to my success.
Even starting this tumblr vs. just spewing thoughts out on Twitter has been helpful.
How have you been practicing patience/mindfulness? I’d love to hear. :)
Why do today’s politicians feel the need to continuously meddle in our lives? All these personhood bills and the birth control / abortion yammering. What’s wrong with the way the laws currently stand? And why do they feel the need to exert more control over people? Are they somehow misguidedly doing this in the name of more freedom?
I realize I’ve really just posed more questions than answers here but I’d really like to hear what people think.

There are times when a girl needs more than 140 characters to express herself. :)
